... in a land far, far, far away word came from a jester that things at the Insanity Ward weren't as many thought.
The time has indeed come, I think to show you lot what we have been up to since our last update. Well let's start with the boring stuff: we have had some departures (go figure) but fortunatly we have had some newcomers as well. So let's welcome, in order of appearance: Goku (mapper), JohnnyBoy (texturer, skinner, modeller), Rog (SFX), Codmate (SFX & Music) and F1CT1T1OUS (skinner). We also got some partime/freelance backup in the essence of John Susek, texturer.
The Enchanted Land slowly is getting form and gradually all departments are creating the world you will battle in. We have started coding and our coder has already tackled one of the major points: our 'special' camera view. We won't be revealing much data as of now simply cause Barballs' mates are keeping the file to himself!! So please DO send him 20.000 mails asking them to finally send the avi over to me so you will be able to see it for yourself afterwards! It's rather special and perhaps we can say that it is something "new". Barballs, iss currently coding something else that's very special to AOFT and perhaps even more unique then the previous but we'll wait for that when the final finished version lands on my shelves.
The modelling department has been quite busy as well with numerous models to be shown, we'll reveal some of the most special. Sknne is almost finished with the model for Little Thumb and he is currently adding more details to the character. Here's the latest version for you to see:

Our devil-do-all Johnneyboy has made a quaint little fella when he was... bored! This is his first model ever and I think should be applauded for it, we haven't decided yet where we will use the character but we will! |
|
Johnney is also very busy on making some tree statics, he already made some which you can view here: treestub, preview 1, 2, 3 ], skins for these are still under evaluation. Tanuko has modelled some more statics after a small abscence (like the rest btw) due to exams and schoolstuff. First of all we would like to present "the beating heart" which will be used in a future map as an objective-type static.
|
Furthermore Tanuko has made some statics for splat which will again be used in a future map set "Behind the Looking Glass". As you can see the statics are well-known so it won't be hard to figure out what the theme is ;) |
Back to Johnney now who has also made a very nice "Warhammer" which has been skinned by our newest member F1CT1T1OUS. We're still figuring out what color the spike will get though ;) He also started working on skinning some weapons, his first work in progress are these "Butterfly Knives". He's currently adjusting the most critiqued parts of his work but we're confident that a true beauty will arise from this :)

Warhammer Render I Warhammer Render II Butterfly Knives
Johnnyboy, who actually is a texturer, has also made some nice textures, here's a small part of his work.

Oh and might we add that we have plans with that carddeck ;)
Furthermore our sound department is quite busy on making some nice sounds for the mod... and our musicians already have a nice soundtrack to accompany the game. We'll present to you some work from the overzealous SkyIgntion's and the complete main theme for the mod by the same person. Presenting our main theme titled "Ultimatum Time" and the following songs: "John Jacob Jingleheimer Sadness Remix" for the 7 Goats, and "And the Children March" for the Forester, "New Calm" for a still unspecified character and "Flower in a Crosswalk" for Dorothy Gale.
We currently have over 12 musical scores from our musicians and more is coming!
Next up mapping, we've made some nice progress in mapping, we already showed you "The Frog Kings Dojo", a as of yet unnamed "Training Level" and "The Village of the Damned" on select forums. But our mappers are busy on some new maps as well... expect some pictures of "The Dwarven Mine", "The Queen's Castle" and more soon. And here are some more pics of a yet unnamed map with a gold brick road...

As for me, I've been busy organising things and making an extensive touristic guide for the Enchanted World. Within you can find what the Enchanted World is and what you can expect from our little mod, it's maps, it's style, in short: everything you need to know. We'll elaborate more and more on the concept and design of the mod as we go along.
Next I would like you to show some stuff that will be featured in the mod in the near or distant future.
|
Presenting "The Tin Soldier", who will be getting a very nice spot in the game. We'll reveal what he is and what he is meant to do later :)- And more soldiers coming along, you might recognise these chaps from the real Alice story and/or several games. But I can assure you that our "Card Soldiers" are much, much more evil and vile. Expect more characters like that in the future. ;) |
One of our community member suggested the use of a badger, at first we were reluctant in using the character but after checking it appears that a chinese fairy tale has a badger as main character. So here he is "Badger" ready to get modelled, skinned and animated as a NPC. Some more NPC's will be introduced at a later stage of devellopment, here are some folks you might get to see sooner: the trees from "the Forest of Fighting Trees"... and yes, the name implies what they are! Then we have these cute bunnies who aren't as cute as they really seem and have, together with "Mother Cunicul", a special level I think never has been seen before!. Oh and let's not forget the huge and fearsome crocodile that ate Hook's hand and much later his whole arm.
Last but not least I have finished some new painting for the characters. I'll present these two first though, the rest will follow. Presenting "The Wolf" and "The Wizard of Oz".

That's it for now but expect to see more from us in the near future. People who are interested in joining Insanity Ward, please do, we can use all the help we can get. You can see a list of openings in the King's Barracks on our forum.
...and they lived happily ever after!
